NEW PAGE – Welcome to our new page Africa LinkedIn.
TRACKING – Beginning on 22 March 2011, we will start tracking Africa’s contribution to LinkedIn’s total membership. Africa is the world’s second-largest and second most-populous continent, after Asia. At about 30.2 million km² (11.7 million sq miles) including adjacent islands, it covers 6% of the Earth’s total surface area and 20.4% of the total land area. With 1.0 billion people (as of 2009) in 61 territories, it accounts for about 14.72% of the world’s human population.
THE STATS on 22 March 2011 – As LinkedIn celebrates a significant milestone in its growth, reaching 100 million members, we ask Is Africa LinkedIn? Lets see what the figures say. Currently LinkedIn has 3,047,811 out of the 100 million members. This is 3%. With LinkedIn now growing at a rate of more than member a second, I am quite curious about Africa’s own growth rate on LinkedIn.
THE STATS AS AT 15 September 2011 : LinkedIn’s membership now starts at over 120million members. Africa now has 4,418,355 members. This is an increase of just under 50% since 22 March 2011.
